Kayaking with Kids: What Items Should Be Prepared
Hot summer is comming, why not take kids to some cool water sports, such as kayaking. Kayaking is one of the most fulfilling water sports activities you can do with your family. We should get well-prepared the following thing when kayaking with kids.
Kid-Size PFD
It’s important to choose and take good-quality PFD (personal floatation devise) for kids. Wearing a PFD is a simple way to stay safe while near water and in the water.
Kid-Size Paddle
Giving a kid a kid-size paddle will encourage them to take part in! Materials like fibreglass or carbon fibre will be better because they are lightweight and robust.
Kid-Size Portable Seat
Types of kayaks are different, such as sit-on-top kayak or sit-inside kayak. To make the child more comfortable and safe to sit in the kayak, a child-size portable seat should be considered, which can also be used on-shore as a low-profile camp chair.
Water Shoes
Water shoes are not only designed to be waterproof, they also protect against sharp rocks and sticks or glass on shorelines. So let the kids wear water shoes instead of bare feet.
Sunglasses
In the mornings and evenings, the sun is low and its glare on the water. So protect your kids’ eyes with sunglasses. Polarized sunglasses can be the good choice, whose vibrant lens colors will help cut down on glare.
Quick-Dry Clothing
Wear light layers that you can take on or off as conditions change. Clothing made of quick-dry material like nylon or polyester will be better. These lightweight materials are alse good to keep the sun off.
Communication Tools
If you have a large family taking the whole family out for the kayak, more than two kayaks may be required. To avoid getting lost and separated, you need some communication tools. Phones may be useful, but they are not suitable for little kids. Kids walkie talkies will attract kids more, which can also be the surprising gift. For example, walkie talkie Retevis RT628 is the long-range and funcational walkie talkies, good for 6-12 years old boys and girls. It is very handy for any outdoor activities.
